Location: Hybrid Role, working from home with occasional travel to BCA Sites

Main Purpose of The Role:
The Data Centre Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining the company’s on-prem virtual environment, physical and virtual servers, operating systems, and applications. Supporting and managing the backup solution, patching, manage and sanitise on-prem active directory, and assists on tasks related to projects. This role requires flexibility to work out of hours when required by the business, as well as out of hours support cover on a regular rota.
Key Responsibilities:
- Virtual Environment Management: Administer and maintain the virtual infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
- Server & OS Administration: Manage physical and virtual servers, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of operating systems.
- Application Support: Oversee applications running on servers, ensuring reliability and performance.
- Backup & Recovery: Implement and monitor backup strategies, ensuring data integrity and disaster recovery readiness.
- Patch Management: Apply and verify patches across server estate to maintain security and compliance.
- Active Directory Administration: Manage local identity services, including user accounts, groups, and policies.
- Proactive Monitoring: Continuously monitor systems to identify and resolve issues before they impact operations.
- Project Delivery: Act as a key contributor in infrastructure-related projects, ensuring timely and successful implementation.
- Out-of-Hours Support: Provide on-call support as required to maintain service continuity.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for systems, processes, and configurations.
- Cybersecurity: Identify and raise risks, whiles supporting the company cybersecurity strategy delivering security solutions applied to servers and applications within the physical infrastructure.
- Data centre: Responsible for the physical data centre integrity, documentation, labelling and physical security.
- Certificates: Renew, deploy, and validate certificates
- Service Level: Ensure effective and efficient ticket handling, resolving incidents and requests ensuring the specific SLAs are met.
- Change control: Adhere to established change management processes
Skills and Experience:
- Over 5 years of experience managing data centre and virtual environments. VMware and Nutanix knowledge.
- Knowledge of ITIL.
- Strong technical background managing systems.
- Experience with virtual environments such as VMware and Nutanix AHV.
- Windows and Linux technical knowledge.
- AD administration.
- Management of backups and disaster recovery experience.
- Server and application patching.
- Team player.
- Proactive.
