Main Purpose of The Role:
We’re looking for a proactive, highly organised Yard Manager to lead the day‑to‑day operation of our Corby Gedd B site. You’ll be the driving force behind safe, efficient vehicle flow, accurate stock control, and a motivated, high‑performing yard team. Working closely with the Operations Manager, you’ll ensure our yard runs smoothly, safely, and in line with all agreed processes and production routes.
Our selection process includes two on‑site interviews and a site tour. A skills test may be included depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily yard operations — Oversee vehicle storage, parking, and movement between the yard, workshops, and valet/wash services to ensure vehicles follow the correct production routes.
- Maintain accurate vehicle records — Ensure all vehicles are logged, tracked, and documented correctly so they can be located quickly and do not exceed agreed on‑site times.
- Control budgets and costs — Monitor overtime, labour, and damage costs, taking corrective action to keep expenditure within agreed levels.
- Champion health & safety — Enforce company H&S standards for employees, contractors, and visitors to minimise risk and prevent accidents.
- Develop and manage your team — Lead Team Leaders, Coordinators, and wider yard staff through coaching, performance reviews, recruitment, and ongoing development.
- Resolve issues and complaints — Act promptly on operational queries or concerns, escalating complex matters where necessary.
- Support wider site operations — Undertake ad‑hoc tasks and deputise for other department heads when required.
Knowledge and Experience Required:
- Line management or team leadership experience in a fast‑paced operational environment.
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential for moving vehicles on site).
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to communicate clearly to operational teams and first‑line supervisors.
- Confident delegating tasks and motivating teams to meet targets and deliver high‑quality work.
- Skilled in generating reports, presenting information, and working under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and strong collaboration skills across all levels of the business.
We’ve put everything in place to ensure you thrive. Competitive salaries, strong core values and an excellent benefits package that includes:
- Onsite parking
- Company Pension Scheme
- Cycle to work scheme
- An Employee Assistance Programme
