Main purpose of the role:
We are seeking an experienced and people-focused Workshop Duty Manager to join our fast-paced automotive operation.
Reporting to the Centre Manager, you'll lead a large workshop team, driving productivity, quality, safety, and performance while ensuring vehicles are repaired efficiently and to the highest standards. As part of the site leadership team, you'll help deliver operational excellence, support business objectives, and deputise for the Centre Manager when required.
Key Role Duties:
- Lead, motivate and develop the workshop team to deliver high levels of performance, quality and engagement.
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the workshop, ensuring safe, efficient and timely vehicle repairs.
- Manage productivity, workflow, WIP and resource planning to achieve operational targets.
- Monitor and improve key performance indicators, including quality, turnaround times and efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance and customer outcomes.
- Deputise for the Centre Manager and provide leadership support across the wider operation when required.
- Support budget control, labour productivity and cost management to maximise operational performance.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Produce and review operational reports, using data and insights to drive decision-making.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to support business objectives and site performance.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Previous experience managing teams within a workshop, automotive, fleet maintenance, or vehicle preparation environment.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle servicing, maintenance and repair operations.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams.
- Experience driving productivity, quality and operational performance in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Commercially aware, with experience managing resources, costs and performance targets.
- Knowledge of health & safety, compliance and continuous improvement practices.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and operational reporting systems.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
