Salary: Circa £42,000 (DOE)
Are you an experienced Learning & Development professional who enjoys owning the full L&D agenda and working closely with the business to make things happen?
We’re looking for a proactive and engaging Learning & Development Manager to join us here at BCA Logistics to lead and deliver impactful learning, development and engagement activity across the organisation. This is a hands‑on role with real visibility, variety and influence, partnering closely with HR Business Partners and business leaders to build capability, develop talent and support the business’s future skills needs.
The role
This position plays a key role in shaping colleague development across both Head Office and operational teams. You’ll design, deliver and evaluate learning solutions, support succession planning and career pathways and lead communication and engagement activity linked to learning.
You’ll be confident working autonomously, comfortable engaging stakeholders at all levels and enjoy balancing delivery, content creation and coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging learning sessions both face‑to‑face and virtually
- Lead and continuously improve core programmes including:
- Head Office day‑one inductions and onboarding
- Leadership and management development
- Core skills workshops (communication, teamwork, resilience, problem‑solving etc.)
- Lunch & Learn sessions
- Group‑wide Leadership Fundamentals programmes
- Conduct training needs analysis, working with managers to support skills matrices and development planning
- Support the creation and roll‑out of career development pathways across the business
- Evaluate learning effectiveness, providing attendee data, summaries and ROI insight
- Work closely with HR Business Partners to support succession planning and Talent mapping
- Build strong relationships with leaders and stakeholders across all business areas and be the key point of contact for learners, managers and training providers
- Create and deliver monthly L&D communications and regular business updates
- Develop engaging learning and people‑focused content using best‑practice principles
- Support wider employee engagement activity linked to learning and development
- Produce basic MI and reporting (attendance data, summaries and insights)
- Ensure L&D processes, standards and materials remain current and aligned to best practice
Key Skills:
- Strong facilitation skills with the confidence to engage groups in person and virtually
- Experience designing learning content and programmes from scratch
- Exposure to succession planning, talent development or career pathways
- Excellent communication skills with experience creating engaging written and visual content
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills
- Digitally confident, with strong PowerPoint and Excel skills
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities with pace and resilience
- A practical, proactive mindset with a genuine passion for developing people
Location & travel
This is a hybrid role based from Birmingham Business Park.
