Location: BCA Automotive – Doncaster VMU Depot
BCA Automotive is looking for a proactive and reliable Semi-Skilled HGV Night Shift Technician to join our busy Doncaster VMU Depot. You’ll support the maintenance and repair of our fleet of car transporters, working both independently and as part of a skilled workshop team.
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring our vehicles are maintained to the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Assist with Service and/or repair BCA Automotive fleet or components using appropriate tools and equipment in a safe and economical manner.
- Ensure that all job cards and service/inspections sheets are completed properly and legibly.
- Understand and work according to parts order procedures and exchange items.
- Ensure quality workmanship with assistance from employees to gain greater skill set.
- Ensure that all customer and company vehicles and property, including workshop tools and equipment, are handled with due care and attention at all times.
- Comply with company health and safety and environmental procedures by using safe working practices at all times and reporting any potential hazards/incidents to the Workshop Controller.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness. Tidy up after completing each job and return all tools used to their correct place.
- Work and behave to a professional standard at all times and be helpful and supportive to colleagues and customers.
Person Specification:
The ideal candidate will possess:
Essential
- Previous experience in motor trade repairs or a similar technical environment.
- A positive, “can-do” attitude with the ability to support and work effectively within a team.
- Ability to work independently when required.
- Have own tools.
Desirable
- A relevant technical qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ) or proven experience in vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work under pressure and use your own initiative to solve problems.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- LGV C+E licence (advantageous but not essential).
- Awareness of health and safety requirements within a workshop environment.
- Own transport for commuting to and from the depot.
